"I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now CHOOSE LIFE, so that you and your children may live"

The Bible, book of Deuteronomy, chapter 30, verse 19

THE 4 SPIRITUAL LAWS

Meet God is to restore the communication lost because of our sin.
It's Him who shows us the way to return to Him.
There are physical laws that govern the physical universe. In the same way, there are spiritual truths that govern our relationship with God. He Himself revealed them to us in His Word: The Bible.

FIRST LAW:

GOD LOVES YOU AND DESIRES A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH YOU.

The 4 laws - picture 1
He wants to offer you His love, His peace and a new and abundant life.

  • "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" John 3:16

  • "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" Philippians 4:7

  • "I (Jesus) have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" John 10:10

Why then, do so many people not know this abundant life and the peace given by the presence of God in a life?

SECOND LAW:

THIS RELATIONSHIP IS NOT POSSIBLE BECAUSE MAN IS SEPARATED FROM GOD BY SIN.

The 4 laws - picture 2 The 4 laws - picture 3
God created man to live in an intimate relationship with him. Man is not a robot, he was created free, with his own will.
But by a free choice, man refuses to depend on God.
This will, characterized by an attitude of indifference or disregard towards God, is a manifestation of what the Bible calls sin.

  • "But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear" Isaiah 59:2

  • "For the wages of sin is death" Romans 6:23

  • "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23

The gulf between God and man is unbridgeable, for God is holy and man sinful. But can we try to cross it in anyway?

All man's attempts to bridge this abyss are doomed to failure. Good works, religion, philosophy and good morality are insufficient because they do not deal with the fundamental problem of man: his sin.

  • "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast" Ephesians 2:8-9

  • "Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin" Romans 3:20

That's not a way out! But is there a remedy, a solution to this problem?

THIRD LAW:

GOD HAS GIVEN US THE ONLY SOLUTION: JESUS CHRIST.

The 4 laws - picture 4
God Himself came to earth in the person of Jesus Christ, and suffered in our place, the punishment that our sin deserved: death.
On the cross he died in our place and became the bridge, the gate, the path, which allows us to rediscover our relationship with God.

  • "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" Romans 5:8

  • "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" John 14:6

  • "For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people." 1 Timothy 2:5

There is now a path, a bridge to cross the abyss. But knowing it, and even believing it, is not enough . . .

FOURTH LAW:

I CAN RESPOND TO GOD'S OFFER BY INVITING JESUS CHRIST INTO MY LIFE.

Thes 4 laws - picture 5
There is now a bridge over the abyss. Jesus Christ is this bridge, this path, and he invites us to rediscover the relationship with God.
Through this free choice, I can either remain in rebellion and separation, or know peace, the forgiveness of God, and abundant and eternal life.

  • "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God; children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God." John 1:12 and 13

  • "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me." Revelation 3:20

Which side are you on? Do you want to open the door of your heart to Jesus? How do you do this?

To meet God, simply speak to Him. He knows you, and knows your heart and your sincerity.
Prayer is this dialogue. I recognize my sinfulness and my desire to repent by turning away from sin; I tell Him that I believe in the work of Jesus on the cross, who by his death becomes my personal savior and I invite him to enter into my life by His Holy Spirit.

Do you wish to pray to God in this way, in all sincerity?
The prayer below is not a word-for-word formula, but a template to help you. The essential is not the form of the prayer, nor the formulas used, but your sincerity and desire to get closer to God.
In your own words, express your need for His forgiveness, your faith in Jesus Christ and your desire to invite Him into your life.

"Lord Jesus, I thank you for your love and for your coming into the world to die for me. I acknowledge that I have so far directed my own life without you, and so I have sinned against you. Forgive me.
I now want to put my trust in you and invite you to enter into my life, by your Holy Spirit, to guide it.
Thank you for forgiving my sins. Make me the person you want me to be.
Thank you for what you did for me on the cross, and for your grace that forgives me and offers me this new life. Amen."

You have just prayed and welcomed Jesus Christ into your life:

  • Be certain that Jesus is in you and that He has entered into your life through the Holy Spirit.
"And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life." 1 John 5:11 to 13

  • Do not rely on your feelings. The promises of God, which are found in the Bible, are infinitely more reliable than our impressions.
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17

  • Read and ponder the Bible starting with the Gospel of John. This is your "spiritual food".
"Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God." Matthew 4:4

  • Pray regularly.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Philippians 4:6

  • Join those who have also entrusted their lives to Jesus Christ in a church where Jesus Christ is honoured and His Word taught.
"They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."Acts 2:42
"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another" Hebrews 10:24-25
